Hubert (Wales) vs Paars (Nicaea)
Hubert has slightly better lands next to Wales, but Paars has slightly better lands within 3 movements of Nicaea.
Hubert 9 lands
Paars 7 lands
Hubert faces 2 large revolts on Turns 9 and 10 (with 4 armies in each land), his lead is gone. 11 lands each on turn 11.
Paars reaches his good lands on turn 11-13, two +2s (dalm & Napoli). He begins to ramp up the points quickly now
Hubert makes an interesting march into Hungary (30k prim with a fort) and lands 13 armies there before launching a successful attack into paars lands (Serbia) on turn 18. This leaves the potential to take walla or bulg on turn 20. He successfully takes Bulgaria but loses hungary on turn 20.
Hubert continues marching through Paar’s lands taking Walla on turn 20 but on turn 21 Paars wipes out Hubert’s forces there. Paars continues more growth into neutral lands (and into Lithuania where I once lived) while Hubert maintains his assault on Paars as a more primary objective.
Hubert takes Paar’s fort in Genoa on turn 24 while Paars moves into Rhineland.
Paars now owns Africa, Italy & Russia. Hubert owns Spain, France, Germany & Scandinavia. The battle lines are drawn. Empty lands on turn 32 are: Tripoli, Sardinia, Corsica, Morocco, Portugal, Leon, Prussia, Livonia, Finland.
Hubert continues to push in on Paars and makes some more gains.
Hubert 35 (pushing into roma/venetia)
Paars 31 (pushing into finland)
Turn 47 The score graph was fairly even up to this point. Now Hubert has a big lead)
Hubert 37 (Muscovy, Dalm, Algiers)
Paars 29 (Austria)
Hubert 35 - entered Roma again, this time with authority
Paars 31 - regained Algiers, Dalm, and pushed into Finland
Turn 55 Game called
Hubert 39 lands, 245 pop, 107 culture
Paars 28 lands, 165 pop, 76 culture
Fabulous game! Around turn 25 I was willing to bet some nice $$ on Paars, but Hubert pulled it around. Was fun to watch.
