Pride and Prejudice

It was late, I had not come really even to play but finding an FFA with seven players is so rare these days I had to jump in.
It would be a struggle to survive but that's the fun of an FFA - anything can happen you just got to hold on in.
It was just like old times surrounded by novices and players I had never heard of, Lord someone-or-other and Sir thingy-ma-jibs plus a guy called Derek.
The chatter was endless and full of enthusiasm,
"How do you whisper?" "Alliance anyone ?" "End turn guys !" " I will make a truce but not an alliance " "How do you end turn ? " " What's the difference ? " I was too tired to chat much but was laughing at the fun of it all.
Then a top player arrived and joined the game. Without even waiting to sample or contribute to the game he immediately started poaching players to face him in a 2 v 1. Everyone politely declined but he was not to be put off , cranking up his macho rhetoric and goading them ever more into joining him. Eventually the two liveliest players took the bait and agreed to join him so he departed to set up his game.
I immediately shook myself awake and got on the keyboard urging the two not to leave, and not to pander to his silly ego. Pleasingly they both eventually thought better of it and stayed.
Now this player who will remain nameless, has contributed enormously to the game and community, and despite his comical posturing and arrogance is one of the most likeable players around, indeed I know of no one that judges him an enemy. But his behaviour last night was bad form and came close to ruining an excellent game that was being enjoyed by a host of new players. Exactly what we all came close to agreeing was needed round here.
Please may we not see a repetition of that again.
And.... on a slightly more churlish note ....what glory is to be had in a 2 v 1 against a couple of noobs anyway ? I mean frankly, you are likely to face a more daunting challenge up against a couple of Xuul's AIs.

Ha ha, No it wasn't you LNO. I said 'a top player' not 'THE top player' !

So there's two names you can safely eliminate from your investigation Jenny.

Thanks Sci, for that observation. I have never thought of myself as a socialist but maybe i am. I guess when you look at it I am making the case that an individual's pleasure must not be at the expense of others. Which is essentially a socialist ideal.
But that must make you a political analyst, LNO a guilty catholic, Master a censorial patrician, Jenny a Republican apologist, Rippe a libertarian vigilante, and IzzleKizzle a would-be corporate shill, a wanna-be whore in the capitalist gangbang....yeah sounds about right.

There, my dear, is where your argument is flawed, you are assuming that your pleasure (playing in a large FAA) is another individuals pleasure. They may have had more fun with this nameless person and could have quite possibly learned a thing or two about the game too. But no no no keira will keep them in the faa whether they like it or not. gotta love those socialists, you can be happy as long as your doing what they want!

Yes, that is my church. That side enlighted me a year ago. (even though "i am not" really a Googlenist, i still believe it is the closest thing we have to a god)

I'd go for wikipediaism. It at least has scriptures.
My fundamental views are based on wikipedical infallibility, inerrancy and literalism.
Find thyself and you find God they say. Wikipedia's texts are therefore the
word of God.

i would define myself rather an "educationalist with a radical antireligious beat in his heart" than a "libertarian vigilante"...

What kind of pie, Paars? Good old meaty pie or that European fruit-filled muck?
