battle calcs - input please

When u think about battle calcs, how would u like the game to behave?

lets take a battle of 25 vs 25 units

1) heavy random (as it is now) = any possible result between 0 and 15 for the winner
2) medium random = any possible result between 0 and 10 for the winner
3) low random = any possible result between 0 and 5 for the winner

how shall the fort behave?

a) chaotic (as it is now) = the attacker can even win having less units
b) stable = the attacker always needs significant more units to have a chance winning

please post in form like "1a", "2b" or sth like that.. no epic comments :)

I know a lot of people don't like it but i would keep it it heavily random because the random factor is what keep it interesting otherwise it just becomes a maths contest, as for forts i think they should be made more desirable therefore strong and maybe even make it cheaper to buy units in forted lands

Oh and i would use a normal(gaussian) distribution - not uniform
as in the 5/10/15 define the 2*standard deviation

average battle = 1,875
average forts = 1,625 (whereas a=1 and b=2)

I think it is important to have a strong element of luck, as that allows for those in the most desperate positons to still have a chance.

a calculation based gameplay would be too predictable and therefor boring or just interesting for people who are especially into predictable strategy games like chess.

Precisely the same here. It's really frustrating when people just moan about luck the whole time, especially when they only notice their bad luck and not their good luck.

The main reason to keep the high luck factor as it is now, is that otherwise I would be unbeatable.... ;-)
