Yes, apple pips do contain cyanide, but you'd have to eat a hell of a lot of them to be at risk of cyanide posioning. It's a really tiny amount in each pip.

Nutmeg however, is dangerous. Eat a few teaspoons and you get nasty side effects such as convulsions and nausea. Eat quite a lot of it, and you can actually die. And apparently there is no antidote. I don't know what's in nutmeg that does it, probably a combination of lots of chemicals.
