turn time shows 50:43 no matter what

Here's my problem(s):
I join and I can see the games listed in the lobby but when I click on one I don't see the minimap at the bottom. Difficult to join a game in progress.
When I host a game no matter what settings I pick the total game time is blank and the turn time is 50:43 and never changes. I don't know if waiting 51 minutes would cause a turn to end but no turn has ended so far. I've cleared the cache, no change. I've tried running under firefox instead of IE, same thing. I've logged in with a different username, same thing.
